Cleaning up Hillcrest for #ChallengeForChange

On Saturday the 25th of May, the Hillcrest Corner team partnered with the Winston Park Primary Eco Club to organise a community clean-up for #ChallengeForChange. This saw almost 50 local kids and residents gather outside the Old Gillitts Train Station to clear the public area of trash and beautify the neighbourhood.

Moving from the Station towards Hillcrest before heading back down towards the Everton Bridge, the team of volunteers filled an impressive pile of black bags in the course of just 2 hours, and the children were delighted to be treated to a close-up view of the train going by.

In a great show of support for this initiative, Senior Environmental Health Practitioner, Thuli Tshabalala joined in on the fun.

Thank you to everyone who came and helped out, and a special thank you to Ensure Security who kept us safe on the day. We hope this has inspired others to pick up the #ChallengeForChange, and we look forward to our next neighbourhood project!
